In my years in the investment migration industry, I have heard a lot of objections based on word of mouth rather than hard facts. That is why I wrote that blog, to demystify our industry.
It is essential to distinguish facts from misconceptions when it comes to second passport programmes. Below are the main misconceptions we face on a daily basis.
Common misconception No. 1 : It is illegal to have multiple passports. This is false! Having more than one passport is 100% legal as long as you disclose the information to the relevant authorities and your country accepts dual nationality. You can obtain up to 6 passports legally through the following means: :
· By birth
· By family
· By investment
· By marriage
· By naturalisation
· By honorary attribution
Common misconception No. 2: Second passports are reserved for criminals. Not at all! In fact, second passports are incredibly popular among many people and they can actually enhance your travel chances or business opportunities. Remember that nowadays there are many children born to parents with different nationalities. Having dual nationality is becoming increasingly common.
Common misconception No. 3: All second passports are expensive. Not necessarily. There are several affordable options, particularly through investment-based programmes. Of course, we are not talking about buying a new phone! The prices are indeed significant, but when you consider the impact that a second passport can have on your life and that of future generations, you quickly understand why we refer to it as an investment.
Common misconception No. 4: Obtaining a second passport takes a lot of time. That is not true either! Depending on the programme you choose, you can obtain a passport in between three and nine months. It is worth noting that citizenship by naturalisation can take between 5 and 10 years depending on the country.
So, if you wish to broaden your horizons and explore the world, don't let these preconceived notions hold you back, check the options available to you today!
